Since 2019 to this very day, there have been no sanctions related to the suppression of press freedom in Hong Kong. Are countries of the West afraid of the Chinese Communist Party? Or is it because of the profits from trades with China?
In Luke 12:23 in the Bible, didn't the Lord Jesus say, "Life is more than food"? Without life, what’s the use of food and wealth?
During our ministry in Ukraine, we had a discussion with our fellow journalists from Hong Kong and came up with the following demands:
1. Sanction officials responsible for suppressing freedom of the press in Hong Kong, including:
Ms. Grace Ng, Director of Information Services (Acting);
Patrick Li Pak Chuen, Director of broadcasting;
Edward Yau Tang-wah, GBS, is the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of Hong Kong;
2. Introduce lifeboat schemes for Hong Kong journalists, protecting them from political prosecutions; and,
3. Stop trading with China.
As the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky puts it, the trade between Western European countries and Russia is “earning their money in other people’s blood”. Suppression of press freedom in Hong Kong is at the cost of those being oppressed, imprisoned, or even ordinary citizens. Don’t be afraid of the CCP, don’t trample on press freedom of the people of Hong Kong by trading with China. This is the time: make the right choice!
