2021-12-28 17:57:05 Managing privacy in the digital economy

In this era of the digital economy, proper management of digital privacy is critical for end-users, service providers, platform vendors, and the government.

Addressing the increasing privacy concerns expressed by the public, research on digital privacy steadily grew over the recent decade, covering management, economics, and information science.

Relevant regulation policies have also been adopted to control data privacy and the processing of personal data by digital service providers.

As academic discussions accumulate, a convolution of conceptualizations of digital privacy emerges, which obstructs the interdisciplinary research progress.

Based on a comprehensive review of related literature, this paper proposes an ontology of digital privacy and discusses emerging research themes.

This paper emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of privacy-related issues and provides the foundation for a merged view and practice-focused solutions.

2021-12-28 17:49:38 China’s Growing Power Makes Its Youth Hawkish? Evidence from the Chinese Youth’s Attitudes toward the US and Japan

Changes in relative power between the rising and dominant state have been consistently recognized as a key contributor to international conflicts, as they can lead to convergence within both societies in threat perceptions of each other.

In the case of China, a dominant view assumes that China’s increased power leads to wide social support for nationalism, which unifies the Chinese threat perceptions of key rivals such as the US and Japan.

Based on a large-scaled survey among China’s elite youth, this study examines the relationship between their perception of China’s power asymmetry and threat with respect to the US and Japan.

The findings show that the dominant view has clearly overlooked the divergent voices within the youth, and they also challenge the common assumption that China’s growing power has fostered a generation of youth with unanimous support for more assertive Chinese foreign policy.

2021-12-28 17:47:39 Daring Fireball: Return and Enter Are Two Different Keys

All keyboards have a dedicated Return key — it’s the big key you’re thinking of above the right Shift key. On a Mac, the key code when you press Return is 36, and the glyph for the key is ↵.

A dedicated Enter key is generally only present on extended keyboards with a numeric keypad — it’s the key in the lower-right corner and is generally the only oversized key on the keyboard that is larger vertically, not horizontally. Its Mac key code is 76 and its glyph is ⌅. Just look at such a keyboard: the Return key says “Return”, and the Enter key says “Enter”.

If your keyboard doesn’t have a dedicated Enter key, you can type the Enter key by pressing Fn-Return. That’s why some Return keys have “Enter” printed in small type above the word “Return”. If your keyboard has neither a dedicated Enter key nor an Fn modifier key, I don’t think you can type Enter, without resorting to sorcery.

As a general rule, when they differ, Return is simply the key for typing a newline character (which, on classic Mac OS, was literally a return character, but let’s not get into that here), whereas Enter enters what you’ve already typed without adding a new line.

2021-12-28 17:43:43 My first web0 website!

some people say that the future is web3

but instead of always searching for something new...

what if we looked back for a second

to see if we lost something amazing along the way

what if we just removed the frameworks, JavaScript, and even the CSS from our websites

would we uncover something more valuable than anything new we could have created?
