港大學生會評議會宣佈撤回哀悼梁健輝先生議案，並向大學和社會作出道歉。中央幹事會全莊四人及部份評議會成員宣佈辭職。幹事會主席表示不會就學生以外團體言論作出評論，亦不會就事件作出其他回應。幹事會主席向所有選民、學生會前人及廣大市民再次作出致歉。

HKUSU Council will revoke the motion mourning the death of Leung Kin-fai, and apologises for the impact made to the University and society. The four members of the Executive Committee and some members of the Council will resign immediately. HKUSU President will not comment on statements made outside of the Union, and will not make further responses on the matter. 昨晚港大學生會評議會通過議案，哀悼7月1日刺警後自殺身故的梁健輝先生。事件引起各界迴響，更遭不少建制團體抨擊。今日 (8日) 港大校委會主席暨英國人李國章向《南華早報》透露，校方就事件已邀請警方國安處進行調查，又會考慮開除有關同學學籍。

According to SCMP, Chairman of HKU Council Arthur Li disclosed that the University has already invited the National Security Department to investigate whether the HKUSU Council has violated the NSL, and will review whether the students involved will be expelled. Yesterday, the HKUSU Council passed a motion in mourning of Leung Kin-fai, who died after alleging stabbing the police on July 1.

2021-07-08 13:30:25 Security Bureau claimed that motion passed by HKUSU Council to mourn the death of Leung Kin-fai “may infringe NSL”

Yesterday, the HKUSU Council passed a motion to mourn Leung Kin-fai, who died after allegedly stabbing a policeman on July 1. The Council labelled his death as a sacrifice for Hong Kong and held a moment of silence before the meeting began.

In a response to Sing Tao Daily, a spokesperson for HKU strongly condemned the Council’s motion for “inciting and justifying violence” and “sending false messages to society”.

Today, the Security Bureau condemned the Council for “beautifying the cold-blooded act of attempted murder of police officers” and claimed that mourning an attacker who performed “terrorist acts” is advocating terrorism. The Bureau also emphasised that those promoting terrorism or inciting terrorist acts may commit a “terrorist offence” under the National Security Law.
