2021-07-09 12:57:10 To enable planning for the phasing of areas in Sarawak, SDMC is assessing the suitable threshold values based on science and data for a combination of three indicators (number of daily COVID-19 cases, rate of bed usage in ICU & percentage of population who completed two doses of vaccination), and also the current situation of each division/district based on the threshold values, and will make announcement on the transition of phases for Sarawak within National Recovery Plan soon.

SMDC also urges members of the public to continue to cooperate and play our roles & follow SOP.

189 from screenings with individuals with close contact with positive cases (8 with symptoms)
138 from screenings with individuals within existing active clusters (2 with symptoms)
32 from screenings with individuals with symptoms at health facilities
45 from other screenings at health facilities (3 with symptoms)
2 Import B - Selangor & Kedah (no symptoms)

516 people have recovered and discharged from hospital

4 new clusters:

Cluster Jalan Pasa Basah, Mukah, involving sellers of wet market at Jalan Lama Mukah, 32 tested positive

Cluster Benteng Sri Aman, Sri Aman, involving detainees of Batu Lintang Immigration Detention Centre in Sri Aman, 38 tested positive (19 are Indonesians)

Cluster Tembok Sri Aman Dua, Sri Aman, involving detainees at Sri Aman Jail, 55 tested positive (10 locals & 45 foreigners)

Cluster Tembok Miri, Miri, involving detainees in Miri jail, 59 tested positive

Sarawak has recorded 3 deaths & 406 new confirmed cases - 108 are detainees in Immigration detention centre or jail, including 34 from Batu Lintang Immigration Detention Centre in Sri Aman; 56 from Miri Jail (Cluster Tembok Miri) & 18 were arrested by Immigration Kuching.

Deepest condolences to the family of the victims, 86yo man from Sibu, 70yo woman from Bukit Mabong & 78yo man from Song.

砂拉越今日增加406宗冠病确诊病例，其中108宗是在移民局扣留营及监狱的病例。古晋有109宗病例、美里68宗、诗巫36宗、斯里阿曼34宗、民都鲁及泗里街各16宗、石隆门14宗、苏必士12宗、沐胶11宗、西连、三马拉汉及打必禄各10宗、木中、德朗乌山及达岛各9宗、马拉端及实兰沟各7宗、伦乐5宗、达叻4宗、加帛3宗、桑县、砂拉卓及加拿逸各2宗、雅沙再也1宗。砂确诊病例增至6万8247宗。

今日增加3宗冠病死亡病例，砂死亡病例增至431宗，在此向死者家属致予深切慰问。

2021-07-09 08:00:02 The first COVID-19 positive case involving the Delta variant has been detected in Sarawak, from a 56-year-old man returned to Sarawak (Import B), according to Institute of Health and Community Medicine (IHCM) of the Unimas.

With whatever policies and “inconvenience” measures that we have to protect Sarawak, it gives us time to prepare our resources (hospital & ICU beds, vaccinationns etc), to have a head start.

We need the understanding and cooperation of every Sarawakian both in Sarawak and outside Sarawak to protect Sarawak’s border and people of Sarawak from emerging variants.
